Climate Adaptation at Regional Scale: Fens Transition Lab
During London Climate Action Week 2026, North Star Transition hosted a workshop on the lessons from Fens Transition Lab in driving climate adaptation at regional scale. This video, produced by Arnav Jain, captures some of the highlights from that event.
In June 2026, during London Climate Action Week, North Star Transition convened a workshop on a question most adaptation work avoids: how do you plan for climate change across an entire region, rather than one site, one sector or one funding round at a time? We chose the Fens as our test case. It is a low-lying landscape of national importance for food, carbon and water, and it faces flooding, drought, soil loss and rising sea levels together. These risks sit across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, and no single body owns them.
The video shows how the workshop session unfolded. Participants saw what we are learning through Fens Transition Lab, including where current approaches fall short, how interventions can be sequenced across the landscape, and what it takes to bring in long-term finance. It also captures the questions and challenges participants raised. We hope it is useful to anyone working on regional adaptation, and we welcome your response.
Panellists featured in the workshop are:
Jonathan Glerum, Head of Environmental Outcomes, Anglian Water
Vrushali Gaud, Global Operations Director, Google
Sunil Sharma, Distinguished Visiting Scholar, George Washington University, ex IMF
Jyoti Banerjee, CEO, North Star Transition
We are grateful for the support of Future Fens Integrated Adaptation in hosting Fens Transition Lab.
